Dr. Leonard Hock is a nationally recognized expert in palliative and geriatric care, with more than four decades of experience guiding patients, families, and professionals through some of the most challenging decisions in healthcare.
Board-certified in Internal Medicine and Hospice and Palliative Medicine, Dr. Hock currently serves as a palliative care consultant based in Orlando, Florida, where he provides inpatient consultations and expert guidance for guardians, healthcare providers, and legal professionals. His work focuses on improving patient outcomes and comfort at the end of life—while supporting ethical, informed decision-making for everyone involved.
Dr. Hock is a Certified Medical Director (CMD) and a Master Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Internists (MACOI), the highest distinction awarded by the organization for outstanding contributions to the profession. He has been a long-standing member of the American Medical Directors Association (AMDA) since 1996, and he has served on the board of the Florida Medical Directors Association, where he was appointed Chair of the Hospice Subsection.
Dr. Hock’s pioneering efforts include the development of a palliative case management model for acute care hospitals, proven to reduce hospital length of stay and costs while enhancing comfort-focused care for patients near the end of life. His leadership roles include serving as Chief Medical Officer for Harbor Palliative Care and Advanced Illness Management at Trustbridge, where he expanded physician teams and care networks across Florida.
Earlier in his career, while practicing in Kansas City, Dr. Hock was known as the healthcare reporter for FOX 4 News, where he appeared daily on the “Housecalls” segment, helping thousands of viewers better understand health topics and medical issues.
A veteran of the U.S. Army and a graduate of the Kansas City College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Hock completed his internship in Dallas and his internal medicine residency in Kansas City. He brings decades of experience, compassionate leadership, and a lifelong dedication to ethical, patient-centered care.
Today, Dr. Hock continues to educate and consult with guardianship associations, attorneys, healthcare professionals, and court systems, helping others navigate the intersection of medicine, law, and compassion at life’s most critical moments.
